Vetkoekpaleis

During the political changes in South Africa in the 1990’s Frik, an ardent Blue Bulls supporter, takes a voluntary “package” and leaves his employment to start a take away in Nigel on the East Rand. He is married to a younger woman “Poppie”. Frik and “Poppie’s” nephew, Worsie, who is mentally challenged due to a difficult birth process helps out in the shop and turns out to be a star both in terms of his cooking abilities and in his down to earth wisdom stemming from his honesty and kind heartedness. A sexy waitress ‘Boeboe” completes the Vetkoekpaleis team while Sheridan and Fogele are the local security and traffic cop guys that pop in regularly for a complimentary breakfast. Viewers are entertained with a healthy mixture of tears and laughter as the Vetkoekpaleis staff, “People of the Palace”, as Sheridan calls them, interact with all the other characters residing in Nigel.
