Malan & Kie is a contemporary thriller set in Cape Town (Sea Point, The Docks, The Waterfront and Mitchells Plain) and on the West Coast (on a river near Velddrif). The main story plays out over a period of eight consecutive days, plus a three scene epilogue a few weeks later.
The miniseries is fast, gritty, grainy and shot naturally with a loose, yet dynamic camera to enhance the work of the actors and the exciting storyline. Cameraman, Eran Tahor’s camera work is free and flowing with a hardcore edginess that underlines and compliments the harshness of the script and story.
On the West Coast, the tranquillity and beauty of Velddrif and the Berg River carry an ominous element of pending danger and calamity, the play on blue to emphasise the bleakness of the West Coast. In contrast to the relaxed scenes between Malan and Chantelle which will have a warm candle lit sensuality and homeliness.
